There are many times throughout a typical day that I find my mind thinking ahead to what my next project (or ten) will be. I'll be working away on the current work and before I know it, I am digging out the materials for the next project or designing the pattern for it.
I love having such a creative mindset, but it can get chaotic. Especially on days that have other "non-creating" things going on too.
Today, I started cleaning up my studio area. I picked up the empty tissue box and next thing I know, I have made a fabric cube for my sewing tools!
Instructions for cube can be found here.
Ok, back to cleaning up the studio - mind you, this clean up started because I can't find the hardware pieces I planned to use on my latest handbag project. Without that hardware, yet another project will need to be put aside "for now".
As I start to go through a drawer of this and that pieces, I come across a ziplock bag with small cut squares of various coordinating fabrics. A good friend who quilts gave this to me and I thought it was a few leftover 2x2 squares. Instead of putting it away and continuing with the clean up, I decide to open the bag and see what's there. Imagine my delight when I find this amongst the smaller pieces!
And strips made from some of the 2x2 squares along with lots of other 2x2 coordinating squares.
SQUIRREL! 🐭
(yes, I know that's a mouse....there were no squirrel emojis to choose...sometimes you just gotta make due with what you get.)
Two hours later, I'm full blown head first into my third project of the day and it's not even lunch yet!
And I still have a cluttered studio and no idea where the hardware is that I need for the first project I started the day with. And now, I must start my "real" day job. So, I'll start this all over again this evening or tomorrow morning.
But you know, I still love it.
Find your passion and run with it.
